I have been smoking green for 10 year and the last 5 years straight ,everyday 4 times a day.And sence i stopped working a year ago and i have no car >Then i just got high all day. And ive been blaming and anolizing myself wondering why im paranoid and spacy.Well,Daaaa..I'm high..lol And so now i have to stop being such a pot head, but dude when i run out i feel so antsy! And to be staight up between my dancing at a club around beer for 10 years and smoking I just dont know how to be sober it feels weird. On top of that my husband smokes and says he doesnt plan on stopping smoking. He does fine on the green im the dumb one..hehehe So its hard cuz if hes smokes i want to too. But i am for real ready to stop smoking so I can get my mind straight. So, its gonna be hard! Have any of you stopped after smoking for so..long?

I am quitting after smoking for close to ten years, but I have heard from people that have quit after smoking for many more than that. I must say that trying to start from scratch with the person you're closest to smoking all the time will be very hard. It's really strange at first to function without pot after becoming so accustomed to being high all the time. I'm glad you think it's time to start living life on life's terms (as they say in treatment). But if you are serious about it there's no reason you can't do it even in that situation. This a good place to start, hopefully other people will post and help point you in the right direction.

well ive been smoking atleast a few times a day for 7 years, and in the past month i have began the steps to quit. I know what you mean with the antsy feeling. Im learning how to deal, but it sucks! I begining to start a day treatment program to learn how to better deal with life instead of just smoking to deal with life. But i have cut down to just smoking at night for the most part. And that is going pretty well for me. But as of right now, im fiening like crazy. But i will keep on fighting.. i wish you the bet of luck!

I know exactly what you mean about the other half not wanting to quit. That's the exact boat I'm in. And it sucks, b/c together we smoke twice as much - which of course costs twice as much. It's been 4 years for me smoking at least 3-4 times a day and I'm not sure how I'm going to quit, but lately it's become very clear to me that I NEED to quit.

I too danced at a bar and smoked constantly in the dressing room for years, it was my career. I was a daily pot head for about 10 years after 10 years of more occasional use. Now I am clean and sober about 3 years and no longer work in that industry. You can do it if you want to. I used Marijuana anonymous and AA and still do!

Hello. I am nodding my head with understanding at your comment about your husband. My man had the dame attitude. "He doesn't have the problem" he would say. "stop trying to force me into conforming to what you want". I was at a loss and thought that I might have to leave him. My desire to quit was getting stronger and stronger. He didn't like when I told him he was my enabler. He kept saying I had a problem not him...blahblahblah It took time, but then I was able to make him understand what was happening from my perspective. I pointed out that we were in a partnership together. I reminded him that he is the father of my child. So in turn, if "I" have a problem, then "we" have a problem. I explained to him that I was just asking not to have it in the home anymore, but if he was with his pals after work and they smoke, thats "his" choice. That I'm just asking for support from the person I love beacuse I'm sinking into oblivion, I told him I felt like I was floating out to sea and that I could see him standing on the shore with a life jacket just watching me float away. And also that by being so resistant to try something for me that in essence he was forcing me to "conform" for him. Anyway, that really gave him something to think about. A couple days later her told me he would not bring it home anymore. So he's actually supporting me now. It's a lot easier. If it was here, I WOULD smoke it. It's been 3 weeks herb free! I feel stronger everyday.

That's really awesome that you finally got your husband on board with what you're doing. We all know how hard it can be to understand recovery when you're not the one trying to quit. I'm glad that you have a healthy home to raise your child in. Good luck, keep up the good work.
