I have stoped smoking truely for only a day. This was a large step for me since I have been smoking since 2001, but I am looking for a low impact hobby, activity to take up my time, I have no friends that are attached to my addiction. My husband is very supportive but works a lot so I am alonely a lot which lead to my addiction. I was looking for a hobby to take up my time, it just seems that since stopping I want nothing more than to return to my old habits. help if you can, thanks.

" Well getting clean at first allowed me to do one thing I enjoyed but struggled with when stoned - read! Especially recovery literature. There is a ton that could keep you busy including the book Life with Hope at www.marijuana-anonymous.org

I have found in getting clean I have used the 12 step program of MA to change my whole way of life to include meetings, a sponsor, fellowship, being of service, and using the literature and steps as ways to cope versus smoking. "

" Good advice Loved1, I went to a few online meetings for about five minutes each sitting. I am feeling truely alone in OUR recovery for I am seemingly not quitting. We can't do it alone I hear. I'll keep coming back. Good luck kqm. Don't quit before the miracle happens. "

" In your search for a hobby it might help to look at what you enjoyed doing as a child. If you can't think about that, then think about what you were good at as a child. Where did you excel?

Good luck. "

" This is a great opportunity for you to stretch your mind and talents. What interests you, what used to interest you? What ideas or activities feel like F.U.N? What are you curious about? Are there classes where you are, or sports teams or charitable groups? Now you have this extra time and energy to grow up and out. Tell us what you do! And yes for recovery literature...let's keep feeding and encouraging the part of us that wants to be healthy! "

" I like to think of my hobbies as entertaining to me even if others may not think so. I love to read, draw, cook/bake, take walks, swim, do yoga, or take a class at the gym, and I go to a lot of MA & AA meetings! "
