Dopamine is a neurochemical involved in motivation, reward, memory, and habit formation. The dopamine surge that we get when practising our 'bad habits' ensures that we will only crave the same detrimental behaviors over and over again. But is there a way to 'trick' our brains into feeling this same rewarding feeling during a more healthy endeavor? And what role does stress, including the stress of failure, play in relapse? This article from Oprah.com explains the science of addiction from a neurochemical standpoint.

Really interesting article. Thanks for posting.Reminds me of my favorite slot machine in Nevada "Rock Lobsters!" Sometimes when you put your money in the lobsters start dancing!! Sometimes they have you trap lobsters and you win $$$ depending on which lobster you pick. They mix it up just enough for you to continue to put money in to see what those crazy lobsters will do next. (It worked, they got my $$$$). It will be interesting to find where my brain's pleasure pathways go now that I dont smoke weed anymore. The brain is cool!!! Thanks again for posting.
