SA results - morphology problems

My hubby just got his SA results back - abnormal morphology and the results page did say that pregnancy will be unlikely. What are our options with abnormal morphology. We have an appointment with his urologist next week for the 'official' results. Just want to prepare ourselves....

" My DH had the same thing--less than 10% morphology. They may ask about alcohol, past mump dx, past injuries, smoking, job issues (working with radiation which can affect sperm of course)
The urologist said our best bet was to skip IUI (low success rate) and go straight to IVF with ICSI. I don't know if your state covers any insurance with IVF, but I hope it does. I live in CT and have insurance but sadly, our company has opted out, which means about $30,000 for ICSI and that's only one attempt. Try checking "attain IVF they offer a 75% money back if there is no live birth or something like that... We did just find out his TSH levels were out of whack, so we're waiting to see if there's any improvement. Good luck! "

" Thank you so much! I wonder if I need to suggest that they do some blood work to see if anything is 'off' that may be affecting it. "

" They should do some lab work, just to rule anything out, like an infection. TSH is included in that I believe. I hope you get some answers... "

" You are not the only couple with this problem... the urologist will probably refer you to a specialist for you and your hubby. Please don't be discouraged... there are so many wonderful forms of technology out there to make your pregnancy happen.

Hang in there and think positive ! "

" I am beginning to think we chose the wrong urologist! All he did was say that the morphology was abnormal b/c of low count. Okkkkk....the lab results that we got as well showed counts in the normal range? All the urologist did was give DH a scrpt for clomid for 6 months. He said if in 6 months if we are not pregnant to go see a specialist. Would a RE be one that we need to see? If so, I'm going to go ahead and make that appointment. The urologist didn't even order any labs after I had asked him about it. Very frustruating. I am so sick of waiting..... "

" The urologist did the same thing for my husband too...gave him a script for Clomid. He never filled it, as it isn't a guarantee for increased production or morphology. I would go ahead and make the specialist appt...the urologist is basically there to tell you what the issue is (if they can identify one.) If my husbands' SA doesn't improve over the next few months, I will be doing the same. "
