" My understanding is that supplements CAN improve motility and morphology. There does not seem to be widespread acceptance of one particular treatment over another, and urologists, reproductive endocrinologists and naturopathic/homeopathic doctors will probably all tell you something different (unfortunately!).

I just recently found out that I have very low sperm count, 1%morph and 35% motility, and I'm taking supplements (regardless of whether they actually work--I'll try anything at this point!). I found some supplements that were common in many different recommendations. these are:

Coenzyme q10 100mg/day (Proxeed only has 20 I think)
Grape seed extract 100mg/day (this provides OPCs--the best antioxidants you can take)
Multivitamin (this covers selenium and zinc)
L-arginine 3-4gm/day (I just take a protein shake)
Vit C 1-2gm/day

I think I'm also going to start taking L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine which is one of the supposedly good ingredients in proxeed that improves motility and morphology.

The most important thing to remember is that it takes at least 72 days for sperm to mature. Anything you start taking/doing today won't be seen in a semen analysis for almost 3 months!! Don't expect changes within a couple of weeks--and if you do see changes that fast, they're probably just normal variation.

Hope this helps "

" proxeed is not equivalent to a multivitamin. Proxeed only has Vit b12, folic acid, zinc, vit c and selenium. Yes, these are probably SOME of the best vitamins for sperm, but all men should take a multivitamin every day. "

" I take OneAday mens multivitamin (I get it from costco)

Here's my full supplement regimen at the moment (remember, I have very low sperm count, 0-1% normal morphology, and poor motility)

Multivitamin 1/day
Grape seed extract 100mg/day (contains 90% OPC-->antioxidant)
Coenzyme q10 100mg/day
Vit C 1-2gm/day
fish oil (for omega 3's)
CarnitAll (a combo supplement containing L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine as well as arginine, and some other stuff)
Arginine 4gm/day in the form of a protein shake

Also seeing an acupuncturist (my insurance pays for it!) and taking some chinese herbs.

My SA was bad enough that I'm willing to take anything shown to improve my swimmers. "
