After many different tests & doctors I was diagnosed with macular degeneration in my left eye. Luckily it just started. Put me on I-Caps (vitamins)-1 in the morning & 1 in the evening. Told me they will keep it from progessing. Does anybody else take them?

If you have the Dry type of MD the study done by the Eye institute shows they will help. http://www.nei.nih.gov/amd/summary...
If you have the Wet type of MD, not so much. I have the Wet type and have just begun injections. I have early stages of Dry MD in the other eye and have begun vitamins hoping to stop or slow it's further development. I found some good books at the library on MD that have lots of useful information of how to cope and what to expect.

Yes, I do. I've been taking the multi-vitamin, non-Vitamin-A version for about six months, and so far my md hasn't gotten worse. I found that taking four a day gave me some bowel problems, so my doctor said to cut down to 3 a day. I sometimes take Preservision instead since it seems to come on sale more often and some of my relatives have had those prescribed for them. One friend told me she was told to take Ocuvite drops.
I do worry about the massive doses of Vitamin E in all these supplements, so I think there is some risk involved with taking them. I hope we don't have to choose between blindness and heart failure!
