So afraid

I've always heard that seeing bright spots in your vision can be a sign of MD but have told my physicians about this for years and ignored it. Lately my vision has gotten, strange? I'm having distance issues, and figured that it was almost being 40 and in need of bifocals. I noticed today that I have a definitely blurry ring in the center of my right eye. I have scheduled an appt with my eye doc but I'm scared to death. I've also noticed that in the last 3 weeks or so, I can see my eye pulsing. It's not an eye twitch, I've had those off and on from stress, this is like I can see the vein inside my eye with the pulse going through it.
I'm really scared. I'm only 37, I have 3 young kids. My neighbor had this and has been completely blind since she was in her 70's, and developed it around age 60. Does this mean I only have until around 50 years old until I can see? What do I do? I don't even want to tell my family about this I'm so afraid. Help. Posted on 05/18/09, 07:05 pm |

This is pretty much the way mine started, but I am in my 60's. Your doctor will probably recommend Preservision or EyeCaps, over-the-counter antioxident supplements that are supposed to keep the condition from getting worse. I haven't taken them long enough to know whether they work, but so far (about six monhs) my vision doesn't seem to be any worse. Read the discussion comments here. They are very helpful.

Thank you Argus. I've already started on them and spoken to the eye doctor (who still can't get me in until next Thursday.) Will just have to wait this out and see

I couldn't agree more Argus! Education is the best way to be able to know what you are in for. It certainly prepared me long before the doc told me what I had. Luckily, the information of having WMD wasn't a surprise to me in the doc's office among strangers. I was able to get a grip on it long before. Have faith in the human body's ability to heal itself. Of course you need to see the doc, but whatever the treatment you decide, take it in with the faith that your body can change anything. That always helps me. Love

I too am recently diagnosed and I have been googling frantically. Problem is,There is much frightening language, and I found that doesn't help as much as hurt. So I narrowed my search to "cure AMD 2009", and I do get helful positive info on possible treatments and perhaps a cure soon.
