I have just been diagnosed with dry macular degeneration in both eyes (5 on a scale of 10), with some vision impairment. My doctor told me to take Eye-Caps MV (multivitamin) by Alcon. I notice that the Vitamin E dosage is extremely high (over 400 iu's), and I have seen recent research showing that high doses of E can lead to heart failure and other cardiovascular problems. I already have a family history of heart disease, and I am reluctant to take the risk. Do I need to choose between eventual blindness and heart disease? I wonder if anyone else has questions about this and has done any research on it.
