Advice:
Macular Degeneration

View More Posts Ignore
Hello,

I am a university student going into my final year of university. My grandmother has recently been diagnosed with Dry Macular Degeneration. I am design student looking into designing a Kettle which will make it easier for her to use due to AMD and a severe case of arthritis. I wondered what people thoughts were on this project and whether you feel there is a need for a product to be designed to assist when making hot drinks using a kettle.

Any advice or opinions on this product would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

" Hey, just came across your question. Sometimes this place makes it not easy to find answers or sometimes get help. In my opinion, I think that a microwave might be the easiest to use. You can put brightly colored stickers on the commonly used buttons. I have AMD and have had no central vision since 2003. I know that if I had limited to no vision that I would be apprehensive about using a stove because of inadvertent and unintentional burning. This board could be a very useul place for the exchange of information and finding out what works and what doesn't. "
