Well I am 15 and going to be freshmeattt this year lol. I have been wearing compressions stockings since I was 7 I think it really is just something that you have to get used to and it may take a while but in the end the compression stockings really do benefit you! :)
God Bless!

My heart goes out to both of you young ladies. You're fighting an incredible battle at a very young age. It's not easy, we know that! Keep up the good work though. The trick is to stay one step ahead of lymphedema. Remember you have lymphedema, but lymphedema doesn't have you! God bless.

Stay focused young ladies and don't give up the therapy (compression). This will benefit you so much more later in life. I've had it since I was 12 y.o. and am now 46, but you are fortunate to have the information to manage lymphedema. I did not have the wealth of information or social networks to help me get through it and answer my questions. It is important to stay the course now so that you will not have the heavy swelling later in life. I know it can be very discouraging because I've tried it, but get a hold of it now while you have the time, energy, and less responsibilities. I was very worried about graduating from high school because we could only wear dresses at our graduation in 1980 (all-girls high school) and I was too embarrassed. But, with the support of my family and close friends and the use of the pump and compression stocking (my mom and dad spent their last bit of money to get it for me) I felt comfortable enough and ready to graduate. It's been over 30 years and every time I think about it, I am so thankful for my mom and dad encouraging me and giving up their savings so that I can graduate from high school. While my swelling is still there, it was my courage and determination to not let lymphedema get me down that I remember the most. Don't give up because you want to be able to look back and tell wonderful and courageous stories like that. Good luck and think positive.
