Hey, I just want to tell everyone how excited I am to finally find other people with lymphedema. I still don't know what half of you are talking about.... machines that massage, wrapping.... but I am starting to learn that there is much more I can do for my condition other than wearing compression stockings. Now I just have to find out where I can access any of this. My doctor has searched for clinics and therapists and she couldn't find anything.... now I'll start searching.

Regarding compression socks: My family doctor prescribed thigh socks, but they just keep falling down. Even with the glue that can be used with them. So now I wear the knee high socks, but because one of my knees is toast (am scheduled for a total knee replacement in July), this really aggravates my knee. It is swollen as is, and then the socks just seem to cut off more circulation. When I take my socks off, there is a very deep indent where the sock stopped.

Any ideas?

" I'm sure you'll get other responses from the good people on this site as well, but here goes... The stockings don't fit because they're either ready-made, off the shelf items, or custom stockings which aren't being fitted properly. It all goes back to the MLD therapy that is the source of good treatment. I know because I struggled with all this too before I was fortunate enough to find a good therapist to get me on track. "

" Have you ever been treated by a lymphedema therapist?

There really are quite a few good things out there to help with the the lymphedema once you've completed therapy "

" I still haven't found a therapist. I was at my family doctor's today and she's going to try to find me more info also. I'm waiting to hear back from the Alberta Lymphedema people, so I'm sure on the right track now, it seems. Again thanks. "

" I wear socks till the knee level too, there is always a deep indent where the sock stopped, i told the technician who measured me for the size of the socks aboout it but he just said that the socks are suppose to be tight, he is right but the indent means that the circulation was interferred because the sock was too tight, sometimes i have to take them off, that is why i do not wear my socks everyday although i should because of the same reason may be i should try the once that comes till the hip.
