I have only recently started having pain in my right foot[top] and ankle [along the bone] Painful to the touch and the compression stockings seem to agravate the pain. Anyone else have this? Debfromthekeys

" Deb, it's me again. Are you sure this isn't cellulitis? Lymphedema makes us prone to it. Pat "

" With cellulitis, there is generally some redness (blotchiness), warmth & malaise, however. Pat "

" YES! I have had pain and burning sensations the entire time I have had lymphedema. I start out with it in my left leg and then my right leg. Now at age 30 I have it total body. The pain so to unbearable someday. I can not wear shoes most of the time because it hurts on top of my feet and the bottom of my feet swells. My ankle and top of my feet sometimes turns purple. The only thing my doctor and therapist said that it is just the fluid pushing on a nerve. Have you tried put a piece of foam on top of your foot and ankle then put on your stockings or compression bandages. It has help me some. "

" Hi Deb
I guess I never realized that lymphedema caused pain. Knowing full well that cellulitis did. I am starting to realize that it may be why my right arm is hurting besides falling and badly bruising it. I know that just a shirt sleeve laying on it bothers it. Please let me know if you went to the doctors for the pain and what he or she said.
I hope you feel better.

" I personally have not had pain from lymphedema other than with the episodes of cellulitis. What I've experienced is heaviness & resulting clumsiness. Sometimes, without the stockings (for showers, etc.), I get a feeling like "spiders crawling" in my legs. I certainly would not rule out pain though. "

" The sad part is that not much is known still about Lymphedema..I was referred to a vascular surgeon by my GP who told me that it was nothing more than an inflammation and would get better if I lost weight. How can doctors advise us if they haven't really got a clue themselves. "

" You need to be doing some form of exercise to get all the fluids moving around your body. Diet is very important to look at aswell. With lymphedema there can be further health problems because the fluids within your body are not circulating enough, so they fill up with toxic waste ( I wont get into details).

Go to this site where they have a good guide in dealing with lymphedema..

Good luck "

" I do agree the compression stockings do hurt like hell....they are supposed to be really tight though in order to get the circulation going. "
