WEIGHT GAIN AND LYMES and TREMORS

I was recently diagnosed with Lyme's which I've apparently had for a long time.

Leading up to this, I started gaining weight like someone put a curse on me. I gained over 30 pounds in just a couple of months and have never weighed this much in my life. I literally had to shop online to order pants because I had no pants to wear. I am growing into a new pair of pants about every two weeks.

The medication is making this worse. I don't know how to stop it. I don't imagine it would be a good idea to take a Metabolism booster with all of this other medicine.

Does anyone know how to control the tremors/shocks other than Neurotin because it is NOT working for me. Is there any other medicine that may be more successful?

" J906, Totally agree about the chocolate. I'm not much of a chocoholic but I do like to have it once in a while. The bite-size portions keep me from over doing it.

Yes, you need to enjoy life everyday. I do my best to stay positive no matter what, I know, it is hard at times. But, my aunt is battling cancer and has only a short time left, so I know that my life is precious no matter what.

I wish you all the best. "

" I'm so sorry about your aunt. It is when I hear things like that I am reminded not to complain about the Lymes.

I send prayers to you and your aunt for what will continue to be a tough road ahead. "

" Thank you. She is an amazing woman. Cancer is horrible and I know many of us have lost many, many amazing and wonderful people to this disease.

I only hope that she makes it through Thanksgiving so that we can celebrate that together.

Thanks again. Hang in there. "

" A good thing to remember is to not be too hard on yourself! That will only make matters worse. I haven't seemed to gain a lot of weight, though my activity level has lowered dramatically. I have put on a couple pounds and I have "softened up" a bit. And my belly is swollen almost all the time from all the digestive issues. I always have dark cricles under my eyes, my skin is not as nice and I don't feel as vibrant I guess. People are always telling me I look tired or I look sick. It sucks knowing that I probably look my worst all the time now. So I know that this has had an effect on how I feel about myself in a physical sense.

So, I know my post isn't helpful in the sense of helping with your problem, but I know that a lot of us go through this so don. Try not to stress out over weight. And when you feel up to it, try some exercising, some people swear it helps with pain and fatigue. I know the obstacle is fighting through the pain and fatigue in the first place, buti t's worth a shot.

And if you're trying to lose weight, just try to eat a little better, a little at a time. I eat a lot of grains and wheats with dinner instead of white starchy things. Eat lots of veggies. A good snack is crunchy veggies and light dip instead of chips. Try fat/sugar free pudding with light whip cream instead of icecream. Fat free pretzles and popcorn can also be good substitutes if you need to snack. Small adjustments when done regularly can make a big difference! "

" Quite alright! I take any and all advice. I have learned through the short time I have been in this support group that this is the best place to find answers to everything. As I have learned that the doctors are absolutely worthless and the only good doctors for this would be a doctor who has it. "

" Weight gain is a side -effect of Neurontin. Can they get you on something else.

Unfortunately, the only way to control weight is to eat less than you burn. And the medications that require one to take on a full stomach don't help either.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope you get it under control soon! Keep the faith and stay positive. "
