WEIGHT GAIN AND LYMES and TREMORS

I was recently diagnosed with Lyme's which I've apparently had for a long time.

Leading up to this, I started gaining weight like someone put a curse on me. I gained over 30 pounds in just a couple of months and have never weighed this much in my life. I literally had to shop online to order pants because I had no pants to wear. I am growing into a new pair of pants about every two weeks.

The medication is making this worse. I don't know how to stop it. I don't imagine it would be a good idea to take a Metabolism booster with all of this other medicine.

Does anyone know how to control the tremors/shocks other than Neurotin because it is NOT working for me. Is there any other medicine that may be more successful?

" I haven't been diagnosed yet with lyme, but it's a blood test that I will have done this Saturday (because a lesion was found on my brain). Anyway..what do you mean by shocks? Is this because of the medicine..or because of the lyme? I get electric like shocks at times...brain zaps that I always attributed to my antidepressant meds. Just wondering. "

" It is so hard to explain. Not that I have ever been 'tased', but one can assume how that feels. So that is how I explain it: I feel like I am being tased and my whole left side is affected; however, utlimately the jolt goes to my head.
I can tell you two things: My Mother takes anti-depressants and gets shocks and both the lesions and the shocks can also be MS. As you will find out, Lymes and MS mimic each other. They first were sure I had MS. "

" Are you taking magnesium? It might help.

Weight gain/loss is part of the game. I know its hard to not let it get you depressed but focus on being healthy. Do not diet. But drink as much water as you can to help flush out of your system all the debris from the dieng bacteria. Eat more raw veggies because your body needs it.

Could you have candida? Are you taking probiotics? (lots of probiotics) Candidia can cause some bloating.

Take fish oil it help with brain function.

Also consider taking N-Acetyl L-Cystein (NAC) which does alot for the brain function "

" Do the taser feelings hang around for a long time? Or do you get a jolt or zap (that go the brain) for a sec and then it goes away? Mine are more prevalent with caffeine..I think.
I use to get them when I would miss a dose of my antidepressant (like a withdrawal affect) but now it's more than that. Hmmmm... "

" The taser feelings do NOT hang around. They are very quick. The other thing that makes me dysfunctional is what I call tremors, but it is more like the feeling when a chill goes through your body; except this is non-stop. When they come back hard, like today, I am in bed for days. "

" JulieGH - Thanks for the tips. I just ordered the fish oil last night as a matter of fact.

The Magnesium concerns me because of the side affect of irritability. The agitated state that is another wonderful side affect of this is enough to deal with. Some days the agitation is just uncontrollable. "

" J906 have you had your thyroid checked to be sure you are not low thyroid? That can cause weight gain. I don't know if that could be it, but it's worth checking. "

" Actually I did. It was one of the many, many tests I had. That came back fine. "

" Those electric shocks or jolts are usually nerve pains. It is usually referred to as neuropathy. I would try what Julie mentioned...I found that the magnesium citrate worked better for me because more of it was absorbed into the body. That is, I had the liquid form of it.

I totally cut off caffeine from my diet and found it really helped with bloating and the discomfort. That is, I don't drink anything w/caffeine and try to avoid foods w/caffeine. I do, as I know I shouldn't, have a bitze size portion of chocolate. You have to enjoy your life. Right.

Wish you all the best. "

" Hmm, removing chocolate is not an option for me. What would be the point of living? :)

If I am going through this hell, I want something good!

I think I will try removing the caffeine (the coffee and the iced tea) and see if that helps. Thank you! "
