Hi,
I saw Beth's post about losing weight unintentionally very quickly, and DuckyGal had made a comment about gaining weight.

I didn't want to hijack Beth's thread, but did want to see if there's interest in talking about the struggle to lose weight with Lyme.

I'm trying to figure out why I seem to sabotage myself whenever I make a concerted effort to lose weight. I am at my lifetime all-time high weight, and I know it's not healthy. Still, I soothe myself with food; compensate for missing an event with food; celebrate with food; see the trend?

I'm stuck trying to figure out how to break the cycle. Maybe I'm using this as a crutch, but it doesn't help that I'm taking meds that have to be taken "with food". It seems that if I allow my stomach to become empty EVER during the day, the nausea comes back full force. So I keep myself with something in my stomach pretty much every hour or two, to avoid feeling sick to my stomach.

Makes it kinda hard to lose weight that way ;-) Can anyone relate? Anyone got advice or things you used that worked for you to break the cycle? Most recently I tried Weight Watchers, but I just can't seem to get in the groove.....

TIA,
Jenn

" Laura have you looked in to low dose Naltrexone for the thyroiditis? I had thyroiditis as well. I started taking the low dose natlrexone and was able to get off thyroid supplement. If you look at their website, it's amazing all it can do. I really think I feel better since I started taking it (all of 3 weeks now). Here's the link to the website, and there is some information there for people with thyroid issues.

" I haven't gained much weight. But I notice it. I do not have the energy or stamina to make myself workout like before. I don't have the strength to if I wanted to. I clearly see that if this is the lifestyle I live now, I will have to further adjust my dieting if I do not want to continue to lose weight. It's a horrible time of year too for that!

My tip... don't be harsh on yourself!! But try to stay healthy. Eat better food and snacks. Buy a bunch of veggies and some light dip. That's cheap and filling. Plus you get the munchy desire semi-filled with the dipping and crunching. Wheat crackers, fruits, nuts, raisons, etc. Light popcorn instead of a big bowl of chips. Just try and keep it healthier. If you know you have a problem eating too much of a certain food you know is bad for you, DON'T BUY IT! I stopped buying snacks altogether. My husband hates it, but we're eating healthier. :) "
