Does anyone have any thoughts, pro or con, about whether lymies should or should not get the regular flu shot and/or the Swine flu shot?

" I got the regular flu shot at the recommendation of my LLMD. Last year, when Iwas at my worst, my former LLMD suggested I not get it. I had planned to get the swine flu shot, prior to all the controversy. I still may - that one I haven't quite decided yet.

I'll be getting the shot for my daughter (regular flu shot). My husband's gotten the regular one too. I don't know what his plans are, but I'll probably do the same for my daughter as I decide for me. Unless I hear the kids vaccine is riskier than the adult, I suppose. "

" Interesting,my LLMD is very against both flu and swine vaccine. He said they have mercury in them (a problem with many lymies) and cause more problems than they solve. I currently HAVE the flu, so I guess I won't get a vaccine anyway. LOL

I wouldn't get the swine flu one because it is so new and not really tested thoroughly or long. But that's just my opinion.

Mercola.com is a good resource for vaccination information. "

" I am not getting the flu shot. Even if I trusted the vaccines (which I don't) I am hyper sensitive to drugs and body invaders, and I worry what my body will do in response to the invasion. I'll take my chances with the flu. I didn't ask my dr b/c I have already decided so it doesn't matter....

Have you asked your Dr.? "

" I also heard that the shots have a dangerously high amount of mrecury in them too. Something they are not telling people especailly those being pregnant. It is scary. My whole family has Lymes and I am afraid that since my hubby and daughter are Fireman and an EMT they will want them to have it for working with the public. "

" OK, this will be interesting to get everyone's thought on this. Let's have more input! We have a special vantage point. So far, no "Yep, I'm first in line." I've emailed my LLMD and I'll report his opinion when I hear. I remember someone on this board had the Lyme vaccine, and that didn't seem so great. "

" Oh yeah, the Lyme vaccine was a total cluster (forgive my implied potty mouth, but it was). People got sick with Lyme from the vaccine, and it was pulled off the market. Not everyone, but a large enough percentage to make it necessary to pull it out of circulation.

On the other hand, the swine flu is supposed to be bad news for the very young and those with chronic illnesses. It's that last bit that unnerves me a bit - Lyme is certainly chronic. But all the arguments against getting the Lyme shot that are stated above, make this a difficult decision.

Prior to the questions raised this past week on the news about the swine flu shot, I was a slam dunk gonna-get-me-one, first in line. Now, not so sure.... "

" OK- this is my Lyme doctor's thoughts: "I am in agreement with the vaccine concept, however, the trade-off on the flu shot is the benefit it could have, versus the extra garbage they put in that your body has to process. I have heard that most people do fine processing it, but the final decision is really about your comfort level with it."

So, no easy choices... "

" I think I've swung back to the "I'm all in" side again. I was just on MSNBC, and they had a stat of the number of children who've died from H1N1. I will be getting the shot for my daughter, and can't imagine having her get one without getting one myself.

At least that's my thinking as of 12:15 AM Saturday morning, lol. I reserve the right to flip flop back again ;-) "

" Dr Oz is not having his kids vaccinated, and his wife is not being vaccinated either. But he has to b/c of his employment requirements. I am very concerned about both the swine flu and the vaccine. I find that very interesting. There are lots of concerns about mercury, preserivatives, and the impact of the vaccine on fertility, and on pregnant women... and what about the fetuses? There isn't any research on this vaccine. It's such a crap shoot. Thing is, we have to play this round of craps regardless of what we choose.... take your chances with the flu, or take your chances with the vaccine. It is such a difficult decision, and so much potential for armchair quarterbacking. My family and I are not being vaccinated. Who knows if that's right or wrong? Life is risky. I hope I am wrong, but I smell a HUGE pharmeceutical profit influence in this whole thing... I am very skeptical of them... "
