I wa diagnosed with Lymes a week ago this coming Tuesday. After a bout in the hospital due to a nasty cellulitis infection. Now i have lyme.& i feel like my body is out of control! I have aches in my lower back, and tingling in my hands and or arm.And i have this thing that keeps happening...i feel like everything around me is shaking but really the tremors are right inside of me.Sometimes they may ease but they are always there...they get worse sometimes to the point where i think im going to scream.Sometimes tho i feel like im not having them.I also always feel as if my eye lids dropping, and my heart rate is higher. My doctor put me on doxy but i just dont know if its ever going to help. Why do i feel worse sometimes?I need some closure..some advice..I have panic attacks because it seems like im never getting better.Im out on a dr note but im supposed to go back to work tomorrow. Can anyone help me???

DuckyGal, I'm so sorry that you have lyme disease. You will find the people here at DS to be friendly, informative, and supportive. How long do you think you've had lyme? It sounds like the doxy is working and killing the bacteria (spirochetes). Most people with lyme find that their symptoms worsen when they start or change treatment, and often symptoms cycle and worsen about every 28-30 days or so. It seems that when the lyme spirochetes are killed, the body is overloaded from the toxins released, and many then experience what is called a herxheimer reaction (herx, for short). I am not doctor, but that sounds like what might be happening. If your lyme was diagnosed early, you will most likely quickly and completely recover. Hopefuly, that is the case!!! Take care :)

What Moreel said! I didn't know most of this info until I came here. The things you can find out here are amazing and will help put your mind at ease. But if you keep having anxiety attacks, ask your Dr. for an Rx for an anti-anxiety med like Klonopin (clonazepam). You don't have to take it regularly, at least I don't...just if I start to have an attack and get freaked out about having another one while driving or something. I think magnesium and B-vitamins are supposed to be good for anxiety and nerves in general, too.

I am with you forgotmath. I take clonopin periodically for panic attacks. i also take magnesium and B12. All of these work. another helper is water and LOTS of it. when I start to get shaky, panicky I drink down a bunch of water and most often all my symptoms are softened.
Duckygal, as moreal said, you may well be herxing... big time to drink water to flush out all the die off toxins. I keep water with me at all times. as you get better the herxes should become less severe and shorter in duration but be patient, It is a process and takes time- no easy quick fixes here
