" Bear hugs; I'm a male and don't worry to much about weight although i have a goal to get under 200.for health and alround feeling better. And lyme has paralized my pititory gland and I lost all male harmones and cry over about anything. and I miss being manly. It is depressing.but I try to accept its lyme and I'm on the way to recovery. and as for the drink I'll be honest I havent had a drink since 1997 but would love to drink a whole bottle of strong wisky, wine or anything.mayby even some smoke of the wacky. But lets hang in there. you have my empathy. LOL , David "

" I think my LLMD said something about Lyme LOVES fat cells. I've wondered about that comment, and wondered if it had anything to do with me holding on to an extra 10 lbs. Now, I'm on antibiotics for 2 months and have lost 5 lbs. (?) only thing different than the antibiotics is I started "juicing' (an apple, 2 carrots and 1/4 beet most breakfasts), because my innards were in a turmoil. I highly recommend juicing and a good one, too. And I'm forcing myself to go on walks with my dog- it always improves my attitude. It helps so much to just get out in the sunshine, and be (act) normal! "

" David, the crying may be due to Lyme, and may go away *with* the Lyme. I'm not a crier, except when I get really really REALLY mad.

But when Lyme was at its worst for me, I cried a lot. For no reason. I'd have this overwhelming physical need to cry, and knew if I didn't allow it, it'd just haunt me all day.

So I'd weep for 10-15 minutes, then ask myself if I feel better. The answer was always, I didn't feel BAD to begin with! But the urge was satisfied, and I could get on with whatever other sx Lyme was going to bring that day.

I still have mood cycles, I think, even tho I feel really good for teh most part. And the mood either comes as being edgy, or more often, having a mini pity party (which I HATE).

Hang in there, maybe your male hormones aren't as far away as it seems?? "

" I'll admit, even as a straight man, I have been in touch enough with my feelings to cry on many occasions. Hell, a touching book or movie can do it. To have this disease, to feel like shit because of it, is enough for anyone to cry. Why wouldn't you. "

" Exactly Matt.
Oh, and an up side to the tears? Spirochetes are swept out of the body thru tears. Swear to God! "
