So I have developed this intense fear of going to the doctor. I have been to so many different doctors over the last 5 years just to get diagnosed..and every time feeling beat down and at my wits end because I wasnt getting the help I needed. All my symptoms are back now. Im feeling everything full force again...the neck pain, head pain, face pain, twiching, muscle spams...horrible joint pain. I couldnt sleep last night because of the pain in my back and neck. My mind has been pretty good considering though,, not in as much of a FOG as I normally am. But its SUMMER TIME and all my kids are home from school and I want to be active with them and enjoy the outside and I am just TOO TIRED and in TOO MUCH PAIN!. I know I have to get back to the doctor but.....I just cant bring myself to do it. I am tired...I almost feel like just giving up sometimes. Like just "pretending" that I am perfectly fine and just finding someway to DEAL with the pain instead of being told by another doctor that its "all in my head" Its hard to fight for yourself when you are the only one on your team. Everytime I think of going back to the doctor I have an anxiety attack! I dont want anymore meds...they make me soo sick.

Im so sorry Vae, i really am. I am praying you find some comfort soon, especially comfort from a doctor.
I used to hate doctors... cause I was afraid of what they'd find, now the more I learn about this stuff, the more I welcome doctors, not because they know everything, but we do need them. Sometimes we have to help them think too by reading up on stuff and suggesting things to them. Not enough doctors seem to know enough in the Lyme department. I wish I had an LLMD to suggest. My friend Lisa goes to one that sounds like he knows a lot. My naturopath is a great guy but I dont know how much he really knows about Lyme

I am sorry too. I know I have have been to probably over 20 doctors in the last couple of tears to figure this out. And heard it was in my head alot!!! If you are positive it is Lymes than you need to see a LLMD. They understand and they or most of them really want to help and usually do.
Dig deep and if you can I had my husband come with me each time because it got to be so bad the things that would come out of the mouth of doctors. I think you can search like Google for LLMD's. I live in MD and travel 2 and a half hours to NJ just to have a good doctors because the LLMD's in MD stunk!! I wish you lots of luck but you do need to go. Things will just keep getting worse if you don't syart to treat it. I will keep you in my prayers.

Im a little nervous about doctors too. So many doctors have put me on the wrong path that sometimes its really hard. Im actually terrified. Im talking to a girl who basically relied on her doctor and conventional medicine and hasnt gotten better in 10 years! shes my age and everytime I see her I feel like crying. She has other symptoms other than lymes. They put her on so many antibiotics that she has more problems added to the mix.
Im stopping my abx till I see my doctor on friday to give my body a break. I just gotta try alternative forms. I think this is what will really help me as well as the abx (but Im scared). She really freaks me out.

I feel for you. I really do. Like you, I too have a really really hard time.
I think it helps if you have the support of your family -- or a friend maybe -- who can go with you to the appointment. Also, write out those questions ahead of time and come in with a pad of paper. I recently read that doctors prefer patients to ask them questions -- they're afraid of being sued and studies show that an informed patient who asks questions generally heals faster and completely -- even from Lyme I imagine. So ask away. It's what you're paying them for. BTW, I saw a show recently that featured a group of retired doctors and nurses who act as advocates when loved ones cannot do so for any number of reasons. I wish they were in my state to visit the doctor with me... It's interesting what they're doing and a dern shame they have to do it...http://www.suzanne.tv/show.aspx?sid=704 They're saving lives! Amazing group of doctors -- of course they're the last of a dieing breed.

me to; I've hade doubts. did my lyme Dr. say I had lyme just so he could treat and get the money. However, now I have no doubt. As I have skiped treatment for dread of herx.witch soon after the same symtoms you descrided comes back on me as well. so I'll continue the ABX with the hope one day I'll start winning over this mess.as others have done. I like to think of the success stories and know we'll get there to. And it is truley better today, though sometimes rough . Than before I began treatment. LOL ; David

Thank you for all your responses. I think my fear of drs is really turning into an actual phobia. I had to take my youngest daughter to the doctor a couple days ago and ended up having to go to the hospital for her to get an xray cause they heard fluid in her lungs. I started shaking and sweating when we pulled in the hospital parking lot and was a big bundle of nerves the entire time we were there. Just the smell of the hospital made me naucious.

Hi Vae and all, I understand totally. I've had it with docs who are ignorant and ignore the lyme symptoms. I went through between 20-30 docs before I found out about the lymes. The healer who's helping me now took one look at me, listened to me, aked many questions and KNEW. He started treatment that day.
I've had so many "mystery" health iszues that no one helped me with for 20 years or misdiagnosed me. Including fibroid tumors, odd dental cysts, the enamel dissapearing from my teeth, eye problems, spine constantly popping out of alignment, numbnesss, fatigue, sleep disorders, coughing, massive pulmonary embolisms that nearly killed me and more. It helps to finally know - but I am with you about not trusting these ignorant doctors that don't get it or won't get it. Hugs and healing! clairejean

Thankfully my ND was smart enough to think it was Lyme. I laid there watching him go through his medical books shaking his head. He said your, "you're just too healthy" ... he believed my pain and could see my nerves were shot, having known me for a few years already. He finally closed the books and said, "You know what the problem with these books are? They are written for people on the way out." Scary when it sounds like someone in a round about way tell you that you have the symptoms of someone who is dying. But he quickly decided for a western blot test. And even after that test came back with only 2 bands he still seemed to think it was Lyme.
