Lyme Disease Support Group

I'd start with looking online for a local lyme support group in your area and ask them.

Thanks, Julie! Unfortunately, been there and done that. There are no support groups near where I live, so the search goes on....

This is what I would do.
1.) go to www.lymenet.com and search support groups
2.) do NOT limit yourself to local groups, bearing in mind that people travel long distances to see their doctors... so it is very possible that someone a distance from you comes near you for their doctor. I gave myself a 200 mile radius for the search.... a nice wide playing field
3.) on lymenet each support group will have a contact w/email.
4.) email ALL of them and tell them where you are located and what you need. Not ALL good lyme doctors are registered as LLMDs so you don't want to limit your search that way... www.lymediseaseassociation.org is good, but only lists those registered as LLMDs
5.) you should expect feedback, even if it is to say they don't know. I had one lady who searched for me and I didnt even ask her to. I got a lot of good advice from people if I would say "ever heard of so and so?" or "what do you know about this neuro/ID/internist?" People on that group are so willing to help you and will do almost anything in their power to help you
6.) On the same website (lymenet.com) you can click on something called "flash discussion" I think (something like that). Do that, set up an account and you can log in and ask for a doctor in a specific town... people will email you or respond on the board depending on how you set it up. You can also look at what other people have been searching for.....
7.) On THIS board... open a discussion topic and ask.... "I need a lyme Dr in _______" If anyone here knows of one they will probably send you a message as we are not really supposed to mention drs names here on the board.

My neurologist is a really good doctor for lyme, and a good advocate for me.... and he isn't listed as an LLMD. That's why I think you need to keep your options open... set your sights on what you need and the right doctor will come your way...
