So my knees are KILLING ME. Like if I stretch and when I get up from sitting for a litle while. I get this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE sharp pain in both my knees (mostly my left though) Its a formliar pain ive had it beofre and mentioned it to the doctor. HE doesnt seem to be taking me seriously or doesnt think it has ANYTNING to do with the lyme because I dont have any swelling. I only seem to get the pain when I have a flare up of symptoms. Does anyone else get joint pain without swelling?

" Yes. I have constant pain in both my legs especially the joints. I have to take pain meds to get around. It is definately a lyme symptom. I have a little swelling but not alot. You really can't tell it when you look at them. "

" i have joint pain everyday. the pain levels fluctuate day by day. over the past month during sleep my arms (elbow to fingers) get real numb and very sore, so much so that it wakes me up and i have to try and move them to get them 'awake'. at times its hard to figure out how to sleep so my arms don't get numb and painful from how i lie in bed.
i have been trying vitamins/supplements for joint health but i've yet to find the miracle cure. the only advice i can give is just don't give up, keep on keeping on. i know its hard at times but you/we have to persevere. good luck to you & be well "

" My rheumatologist never took my pain seriously because I didn't have swelling. He always told me it's normal pain from normal activities. QUACK! My biggest joint pain is in my knees, hands and feet, and sometimes I get some swelling, but not often. The pain is not always horrible. When it is, I take Tramadol. Tramadol is one of the more mild pain meds. I couldn't tolerate percocets and the like, I knew that from a prior surgery. Doc recommended Tramadol. I was afraid to take them as I drive to work every day and I have small kids. I didn't know how it was going to affect my mind. It didn't. It simply took the edge off of my pain. I always have some amount of pain somewhere. But the Tramadol makes the really bad days managable. It can turn a horrible day into near normal. If you have really bad days that you simply can't manage, don't be shamed to take a pain med. Talk about it with your doc. I've noticed too, that taking one can break the pain cycle and I am better for a few days. So I take only a few pills a week and I have never had to take more than one in a day. Everyone is different though. But if you're trying other things and you can't manage, please try something for pain. No one should have to suffer. "
