Eye swelling part of lupus?

Well I haven't been on to much lately...between feeling like crud and having all the chores to do in the stables I just feel like falling across the bed and sleeping when I come in. Which I do until about 9 pm then get up and eat something take a hot bath then go back to sleep. That there is my life...shovel poo all day then sleep!!!
But back to why I am posting...I was told by my pcp that I had a sinus infection...took three different antibiotics. He did send me to a ENT doc...who I like...and he put me on prednisone and some nose sprays and changed the antibiotic. But he also ordered a CT. Well that came back and he called and wanted to see me...so I went yesterday. I was told that my CT was normal!!!???? And he is worried about that my eye swelling is actually from the lupus. My eyes swell almost shut...and no there is no allergies...which like he said the nose spray and pred would of helped. My eyes hurt to move...and the puffy look is bad. But actually my whole face is swollen. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this or has any ideas.
The ENT would like my to go to OHSU in Portland...the u is very good. He thinks I am not getting the proper care...Yeah no kidding...lol
Please if anyone has any thoughts on this I would appreciate it...this has been going on Since June. Right after I got shingles. I will admit I am a little scared.

" Tishka,

I'm sorry to hear of your recent issues. To answer your question "Yes" I have massive swelling in my face and mainly eye area. One time the swelling preceed a massive eye infection. I'd wake up in the morning and my eyes were so swollen I could barely see, then they began matting up and next thing I knew I had major infection. Other times when my face and eyes begin to swell it has been a sign of kidney issues. My ankles with generally start swelling shortly after as well. The doc's tell me this is due to my kidneys spilling too much protein.

Do you have swelling anywhere besides your eyes? If so, please advise your docs. If they have not coorelated the swelling to possible kidney issues please inquire about this as well.

I don't know if you recall the post that was added about the actress that past away recently from lupus? Someone added links to a internet video where she and her mother captured issues she was experiencing due to lupus. It clearly shows her beautiful, feeling well and modeling taking pictures one evening, then the very next morning she woke up and her eyes were nearly completely shut. Again, a result of her kidneys spilling too much protein.

I hope you find the right doctor to treat you!

Hugs,
Melissa "

" They did a 24 hour urine test and some blood work. The only thing that showed up with that was large output of urine...and potassium in blood work. So they felt my kidney's were fine. Makes me wonder tho. I am always thirsty...and i do drink lots of fluid. But if I don't my blood pressure drops to much. I have had this for so long...and I really don't feel well. Really tired and just like I am in a flare ...but for months. But its only my face and eyes that swell. so strange. "

" Tishka,

I'm glad to hear they did do a 24 hr urine and that all was well there. This is a very strange disease, no doubt.

What meds are you currently taking? I hope they found out what is making you feel so poorly and get you on the right med combo soon.

Hugs,
Melissa "

" Hi tishka. Within the last couple of years, I began having sinus problems too. I never had allergies before. I get sinus infections (seems like I almost always have it) and my eyes are somewhat swollen. Now that I have read your post, I'm thinking mine may be more from the Lupus/Sjogrens and not allergies at all. I never had a CT, but my doctor has prescribed a nasal spray, which does help me to breath, but it seems the "sinus" problem never clears up.

Interesting!!! "

" Wow with this flare that attacked my back...which hurts still. My face hand and feet are really puffy. Well I guess you would say that my face looks horrible. My eyes are so puffy they are almost closed...my cheeks are so puffy that they stick out like chipmunks. Ugh...I look like a puffy moonface on steroids but I am not!!! Okay this is weird. New symptoms and makes me wonder if I am getting worse.
Mel...I didn't see that post of the actress. I am concerned it is my kidney's. Of course it is the weekend. And to go to the ER is not the best idea...small area and bad hospital. I have such a hard time just getting into the Rhuemy because he is over loaded. That is why the ENT wants me to go to Portland Or. To the U there...good teaching hospital. Its just getting a appt and really getting there.
