heart murmur

has anyone been told they have a heart murmur that was caused by the scarring process of lupus attacking the heart. I have been told I have a small murmur. On a scale from 1 to 6 it is a one. probably nothing to worry about but my doctor wants me to have an echo. he is concerned about pulmonary hypertension. I was told that lupus can attach the heart, scarring it, and causing it not to work as well. I do have a left ventricle conduction delay problem. Often experience tachycardia and brachycardia withing moments of each other. I was told that tachycardia is caused by the lupus as well. any thoughts.

" I have a slight heart murmur as well and tachycardia which i use to be on beta blockers. I wore a halter monitor for 24hrs but cant remember if I had an echo (dont think that I did but memory stinks). I never mentioned this to my rheumy though. Hmmm. Several different dr.s told me the heart murmur shouldnt cause any problems and alot of women have it. I would only be concerned because we have lupus and i also have aps. Im glad you mentioned this because I have been debating whether or not I should see a cardiologist. I think I am going to. I would have the echo done to make sure it cant cause future problems. "

" Same here. I have a slight murmur with mild regeritation of one of the valves (can't remember which one)which will eventually require replacement. I have too was once on a beta blocker for this, have had several echo's and thymium(sp) stress tests. I have been told this is definitately due to lupus activity. "

" I have a small heart murmur, too. I've had two echos and stress tests. I was told I had this 5 years ago, way before my diagnosis. Maybe just one more of the many things that led up to today. "

" I am so glad I asked this question. thanks for all your replies, we have so much in common. I too was diagnoised with aps. most recently the mixed connective tissue, lupus, raynauds, polymyositis, and scerlederma. Now that the diagnosis has been made the doctors are looking for testing to confirm issues I have had all along. like you said, all those testings and results leading up to today. now I fill confident from today on the doctors will be looking more closely for any issues I may have. thanks for the info. knowledge is power. alot of my doctors are telling me they are learning so much having me as a patient. can you imagine. It took 7 years for my diagnosis. "
