i live alone with my non-supportive husband and have 3 grown children. 2 daughters who live far away and my son (who is in the area) just got married. i had family come in from all over for the wedding, some by plains some drove for days to get here.
my son and my new daughter are the only ones who 'get it' the rest think all that is going on with me (got a list) is all in my head. i had to 'live' with these people for a week and a half and wasn't about to call the only ones who do know that my illnesses and injuries are real. my son and new daughter were busy planning their wedding. i couldn't even get online to my DS family to get the support i needed during this time so i am at a very low point right now and need you all in the worst kind of way! it is hard enough being sick and having other injuries that cause major pain but to have the disbelief and disrespect of family is like adding salt to open wounds! it hurts beyond belief. Please my fellow suffers of this dreaded disease, i need some moral support and comfort for the horrendous week and a half i have had at their hands. fortunately they are all gone and my husband is quiet with his disbelief so it isn't as bad. Oh Grammy,......Im so glad they are all gone now...You need this time to rejuvinate. The negative behavior of others physically affects us and I commend you for even allowing those people to be around you. I wont do it anymore....My family doesnt really get it at all, though they know its not in my head. But in my worst flares not one of them offer to help me or watch ryan so I can rest, etc, They live 25 minutes away. While I am not a complainer, Im a total stuffer and I dont ask for help. It would be so nice to have it offered to me though seeing how sick and depressed I am recently. People can just be so insensitive. I am more like earthwalker. A loner and stay at my peaceful dwelling unless I absolutely have to be around others....At a family dinner a few months ago, something was brought up about my illness and I had told them that I was going to be starting the chemo drug MTX, Can you believe that the next word spoken after that was how delicious the SALAD was !!!! I chuckled inside my head...So typical. In one ear and out the other. My mom really does a lovely thing with me. She will find out I had a rheumy appoint. and then ask what my dr. said....the moment I open my mouth and start to tell her, she CHANGES the subject onto herself about what she just bought at the mall.....Is that insane???? I guess my point is that you cant let these people get to you. We are really the only ones in eachothers lives who "Get it:" which is why so many of us cherish this group and the friends we have made on it.
Hang in there and have a nice rest now that the family is gone xoxox

golly are you sure we aren't all related and just separated at birth! you have said things that my family does! i am overwhelmed with love and support here! it is a good overwhelm not a bad one, i feel immersed in a pool of love and concern, you all are the best!

Honey....most of us have all been thru the same thing at times which is why we are so compassionate & supportive towards eachother. This place is my lifeline and Im glad that you feel overwhelmed with love :)
