" What you heard about being on blood thinners and being on lupus meds like plaquenil is not true...I am on blood thinners and I know other people who are on warfarin/coumadin and also take plaquenil which is the main drug used for lupus. You may want to get a second opinion. How were you diagnosed with Lupus and why are you on blood thinners? Maybe I can help you. "

" If Lupus is the diagnosis....it is very important to get some treatment to prevent organ damage. I had several surgeries prior to Luus diagnosis (they were doing explorations because they couldn't work out what was wrong with me - turned out all the inflammation inside was Lupus!) and I came through unscathed. I also have a heart arrhythmia and take beta-blockers, so they were aware of that at least. Melissa is a bit of a guru when it comes to Lupus and APS and surgeries, so I am sure she can help you.

It really is of concern though, that you are not being medicated for Lupus...you need to see a rheumatologist and have everything explained in detail, so you can make the best decisions regarding your health. "

" I took a look at your profile....you seem to be in a very stressful environment at the moment. You need to get some help from social services or similar....If you do have Lupus you must get into a less stressful situation...Lupus + stress = worse symptoms...Please seek some medical and professional advice. " What do you mean by borderline lupus? Do you just have 4 criterias for the diagnosis of lupus? Or some of the criterias are not so definite?
I have never heard that you can't be on lupus meds because you 're on blood thinners. If you symptoms are not controlled, you need to be put on lupus meds, no matter if you 're on blood thinners. Moreover, lots of meds interact with blood thinner( you mean coumadin, right?), but people still on both meds since as long as you monitor the lab closely, your dose can always be adjusted to a safe range. The only thing you don't want to take with coumadin without your doctor consultation is anything that can also thin your blood or increase bleeding risk, such as aspirin, motrin, aleve, pepto-bismol, etc. Some people may need to take aspirin too in additional to coumadin for cardiac protection or if they has mechanical valves-that's a whole other story.
Make sure you schedule an appt. with a rhematologist, who knows better about lupus. "
