Just got back from seeing my rheumy. He said that he is going to keep my prednisone dosage the same (20mg), stay on the plaquenil and added Imuran. I don't know anything about Imuran. Do any of you take it? If so, what can I expect?

Hi Dixie,
Any of these drugs like MTX, Imuran, cellcept, etc. you are not suppose to drink with. On its own, it can affect your liver so adding alcohol just increases the risk of it damaging or affecting your liver. Which you dont want. You will get your blood work done every 6 weeks just to check your liver functions. Some dr. say its ok to have one drink a month. I have never been a drinker so its not a big deal for me...Ask your dr. what they think. Maybe they dont see a problem with a drink or two a month. Hope this info helped.
