Hi Soafraid--I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with this horrible monster. Lung cancer took the life of my father three years ago--his cancer had spread to the lymphnodes and he was inoperable...already in stage 3B with absolutely no symtomps. You are very lucky and blessed, you may not be feeling that way right now, but the cancer has not spread and they can get that out of there with surgery--I met several folks who had this done and they did very well--I have also done some work with the American Cancer Society and have come into contact with lung resection patients--the odds are in your favor if you are a candiate for this surgery. I just noticed the date of your post and the date of your surgery so you may be in the hospital right now.
