My mom just got through throat cancer 6 monthes ago. It was 6 monthes ago this past June. Well in June she had a spot on her lungs and they told my mom that it was a lung infection. They gave her medacine for that. She went back in for another pet scan last Friday and we got the results yesterday. That spot was no iinfection it is cancer and now it has more than doubled in size and moved to the other lung. They want to do more treatments but she is so scared to do it all over again. She is 66 years old and they did radation on her twice a day. It burnt her whole face and her neck. She has lost about 75 pounds cause she hasent been able to eat anything besides liquids since last Thanksgiving. So she is still really weak. I really can't blame her for not wanting to and being scared of it. Sorry the story is so long but we just need all the prayers we can get. Any advise would be great.

" My heart breaks for you and you mom Grace......My mom found out she had lung cancer Oct. last year when she felt ill at work and I took her to the E.R.....She had a lung removed.......and opted for NO chemo or radiation......as she was soooo ill from the effects from the surgery that it was not an option. Flash forward a year later, and it has only been in the past 2 months that she has gotten any appetite back. She lost 30 lbs. just from the surgery trama. Now it appears that the lung cancer is controlled, but she has a spot on her kidney that I am taking her in for a needle biopsy this Friday. But she is SO elated that the lung cancer has not come back to her chest, etc...The kidney can probably be blasted with radiation. It has been a long, hard road, as she is my very best friend in this world! My mom wanted/wants quality of life...that is why she chose no chemo.......I would suggest to you that your mom accept things as they are (which hurts beyond belief!) and just go on as she has...NO chemo or radiation. It is just prolonging the inevitable......and she will have NO quality of life......I guess chemo works for some people.....but for my mom it is WRONG..and not an option! God bless! "

" I am very sorry to hear about your mom. My mom has almost the exact same story. Throat cancer 3 years ago, and now Lung Cancer Stage 4. She is 55 and has undergone 10 chemotherapy treatments. I am watching her deteriorate before my very eyes. It is a very tough decision to make, my mom doesnt want to continue with the chemo, but if she stops it she will not live more than 3 months. She did not have radiation, but the chemo is sucking the life out of her, yet also keeping the cancer "stable". I will say a prayer for your mom and pray the right choices for all of you come your way. "

" Thank you both very much. I feel the same with the whole chemo idea. Everyone who ive talked to has said the same. My mom is a very strong woman and I do not want to see her go but I dont want to see her go through all the pain and suffering. Right now she is up doing things outside playing with her grandkids and almost all the normal things she did before. It is just so hard to face the reality of this whole situation. We just have to take it 1 day at a time but I feel like im still stuck on the day we all found out. I will pray for both of you moms everyday right along with mine. My mom is my best friend also we talk at least twice a day. She lives in Oklahoma and mh husband and me and our little boy moved to Texas 3 years ago. Im thinking of moving back to Oklahoma but we have lots of decisions to make. "
