Tarceva

From those who have been on Tarceva, I'd like to hear your experiences. What side effects did you have and how long did they last? Did you get the rash and if so, when (how many days into treatment), and how long did it last? What did you treat the rash with?

I know to look for the rash as a sign that this treatment is working, but I don't know when it typically appears or how long it typically lasts. Of course, like everyone else who uses Tarceva, I am praying for the rash. If you have followed my story, you know that my chemo (Alimta and Carboplatin) did not work; in fact I had 2 additional tumors in my liver after 2 rounds. So naturally, I am anxious for Tarceva to work!

Don't hold back. Give me all the info you can. There's no such thing as too much information when you are fighting this damned disease! Thanks!

" Come on, guys! Is there no one out there who has taken Tarceva? I haven't had a single reply to this posting. Just to update, I am now on day 11 of Tarceva and I do not have a rash. I'm anxious to know whether this means it is not working? "

" do not know what type of cancer you have but I think your lucky if you do not have that rash -- the doctor will tell if its working from your scans and your blood working and how your doing. My husband has had non small lung cancer for 3 years he was given weeks or months to live he has lived 3 years. The worst side effect I see in him is he gets allot of diarrhea and dry skin. Keep you spirits up eat well do the best you can my husband is 72 and back at work he is not in remission but basically doing well.He is really tired and his stomach gets upset .I think this pill has helped it is not a cure but a big help. You will be in our prayers..Leslie "

" Thank you so much, Leslie! This is the best news I've heard lately! I have NSCLC and was diagnosed last December, then had a lobectomy and was declared cancer free. Not so fast! In May 09 a scan showed a liver tumor along with tumors on my spine in two places. The Carboplatin/Alimta combination did nothing, so now I'm on Tarceva.

I know everyone is different, but I'd give most anything for another 3 years on this earth!

Thank you again, and the best to you and your husband! "
