Ever since I finished chimo, I have had a lot of problems with chimo.
They have me on percocet 10-325mg. BID for pain control. I eat a lot of fiber. I also can go for days at a time with oun a BM. Other times BM Is daily. Any thoughts? BOB G. Posted on 10/11/09, 02:10 am |

Hi Bob; sorry to hear that chemo was so difficult. I think the constipation may be related to chemo, but more than likely is associated with the percocet. It seems that most painkillers can cause constipation, and some are worse than others. (Oral synthetic morphine caused my sister extreme constipation problems.) Fiber is good, for lots of reasons, so is increasing the amount of water you drink. When all else fails, a mild laxative, with stress on the word "mild" could give some relief. Hope this helps.

Afternoon,
Am also sorry to say, I too suffered constipation during chemo. I found the very best thing for me, was Senokot, and at the worst, a mineral oil and warm water enema. Worked like a charm. Sorry to be so honest, but worked for me, when I was miserable.
