I just had a CAT scan 2 days ago and found out yesterday I have a lesion on my left lung. I am going to have a biopsy done next week to see if it is cancer or not. I am a non-smoker, by the way.
I am going to assume it is cancer until proven otherwise and get myself prepared. I am anxious to read more of your posts on this group to find out what I have in store. Randy Posted on 12/13/08, 09:12 am |

Well had the biopsy and it took a while to get the results back.
The pathologist said this: It showed Marked chronic inflammation, fibrinoid necrosis and squamous metaplasia....whatever the hell that means. I have been googleing it and it appears to be precancerous. I will be seeing my Dr. on Monday to find out for sure what it means and what we need to do about it. Will let you know. Thanks for your support...everyone.

that's good news and glad I checked online just now. I'm going for a spot on my lung, just x-rays on Tuesday. And know the anxiety level is UP UP UP there! When I get my results, I'll also bring your diagnosis and pick my neuro's brain, because she's that caring and good.
Keep researching though... we're our best resources without a doubt.

Hey Meadow....ask your Dr. about a CAT Scan. My Xray did not pick up this lesion on my lung...but the CAT Scan did.
My Dr said the lesion was too small for an xray to pick it up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squam...
http://www.medterms.com/script/mai... hi, the first is from wikipedia, the second link is for the meaning of squamous, which I never understood either, and still don't. I was told I had squamous cells 40 years ago, and here I am sitting here typing, lol! Thank you for the advice about asking for the CAT scan. I think we all fall thru the cracks sometimes because if we don't ask the doctor, we won't get what we need :( But I think from what you said, you're ok, with some inflammation, and am so happy! Nothing like the unknown to stretch your nerves to the very last strand.

Thanks for the links Meadow......and boy you are right about the nerves. I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown before I found out what the results were.
I got my Dr to prescribe some Atavan to help me out. Well let us know what you find out.
