About 2 weeks ago my mom went into the hospital for pneumonia. just a few hours after i found out that she was there we found out that she had a mass in her lung. From there on it seemed like each day we were finding out something new. It turned out that she has an adenocarcinoma. Non small cell lung cancer. She has a tumor in her lung that is right now 5cm, a few on her brain, one of which i was told was about 1 inch in size and a few on her liver that are about 2cm in size. One Dr said that she has 2mo to a year to live. I dont understand what that means. even with treatment she could only live 2 months? She isnt mom anymore. She has lost all her color, over 30lbs and cries a lot. my mom was a very stong woman who didnt let anything stop her. how can this hit so hard. Whats going to happen to her? We were just back home for easter and she was great, she wasnt even sick at all, and now all of a sudden she finds out she has cancer and how sick she is. someone help me understand this

You dear sweet thing. So sorry that this has been laid in front of you and your mother. Why these things happen when they do are beyond anyone's knowledge.
Hold each other, hug each other, speak with love, and keep hope alive by looking at all treatment options. You and your mom are in my angel prayers of healing. Please stay in touch, kathy

I also have non-small cell lung cancer. They told me this was the best cancer, if you had to have cancer, to get. I was operated on in July and part of my lung was removed and they feel they got it all. But time will tell. Right now I feel fabulous and hope this is it. I wish I could help you understand it but I can't, as I would like to understand it myself. Just be there for your mom, she needs you now. Just try your best and my thoughts are with you.

Hi..I understand your confusion. My husband has the same cancer as your Mum. The reason they give the dismal outlook is because (like my husbands)..it has metastasised or spread. However these times are only GUESSES..and with a positive mindset and good nutrition..it could be much, much longer. It has been known for some people to get rid of their cancers even when advanced..so the message is..Dont ever give up Hope..your Mum is an individual and can prove these figures completely wrong! I can recommend Bernie Siegels Books to inspire and uplift..Love, Medicine and Miracles and his others plus Anne and David Frahms 'Cancer Battle Plan'..a story of recovery through diet and attitude from late stage cancer. All uplifting stuff which is what you need right now. The treatment is what they call 'palliative' they say it wont cure as it has spread, but it gives you time to put a battle plan into action. Hope, Faith and Belief will help to get you through. The Simontons book 'Getting Well Again' is really helpful too..the power of Visualisation etc.
Hope this helps as it has us. Love, Diana.
