I underwent the removal of the upper lobe of my left lung approximately 7 weeks ago because of a 1A cancer. I am still experiencing a lot of soreness and trying to controll it with Motrin so as to stay away from the Percocet. The Motrin is what is recommended by my surgeon. Also, some shortness of breath, for which I am using the tredmill twice a day (slow speed). Is it normal to experience so much soreness and shortness of breath after 7 weeks. Any suggestions of things I might do to improve my status would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any advice.

" Good morning,

I had upper left lobectomy as well, but had the VATS system of removal. I was in hospital for 2 days after surgery, thank goodness the chest tubes were out, and I have felt great ever since. I have 4 teeny tiny cuts, about the size of bandaids under my arm bit, and 1 on back, and 1 on my chest, and another a bit lower than arm. I have never felt the shortness of breath you are talking about, but please understand I did not come home running a marathon either. I just did my farm chores as I could, and did ride a horse exactly 3 weeks after surgery before I began chemo. However, I am a stage 3a, do not know if that makes a difference. Please hang in there, and may God bless you with comfort and recovery. "
