I FEEL FOR YOU TERRIBLY, MY BROTHER WAS DIAGNOSE WITH LUNG CANCER AND THEIR WAS A SPOT ON HIS BRAIN TOO, HE WAS DIAGNOSED ON MARCH 19TH OF THIS YEAR, WE STARTED HIM ON CHEMO AND RADIATION RIGHT AWAY. I LIVE 3 1/2 HOURS AWAY AND WAS TRAVELING AS MUCH AS I COULD TO BE WITH HIM. HIS PAIN WAS SUBSIDING AND THINGS LOOKED AS IF THEY WERE GETTING BETTER, HE WAS HAVING SIDE EFFECTS TO THE TREATMENTS, BUT WE EXPECTED THOSE. I HAD PLANNED TO GO THE WEEKEND AFTER MEMORIAL DAY HE WAS TO START ANOTHER ROUND OF TREATMENT, AND I WANTED TO BE THERE FOR HIM, I TALKED TO HIM ON SATURDAY MORNING OF THE 23RD, AND LESS THAN AN HOUR LATER MOM CALLED AND SAID THEIR WAS SOMETHING WRONG, HE PASSED AWAY OF A BLOOD CLOT. ALLS I CAN SAY IS ONE MINUTE AT A TIME AND THEN ONE HOUR, AND THEN ONE DAY ETC....MY BROTHER HAD TOLD A FRIEND THAT EVEN WHEN PEOPLE YOU LOVE LEAVE THEY ARE NEVER REALLY GONE THEY ARE ALWAYS AROUND, AND ALWAYS IN YOUR HEART. I WILL PRAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND IF YOU WANT TO TALK I'M HERE

I suspect that women especially feel guilty about being unable to care for loved ones. It's very sad that we do this to ourselves. Hospice is there to support the patient and the families during a very stressful time. My sister received wonderful, loving care from hospice employees, and the support they provided for my brother-in-law was truly a blessing.
I'm sorry your family is going through this difficult time. See if you can get your mother to talk to the hospice social worker or counsellor about your mother's feelings. They're there to help with this, too.
