Hello. I want to start off by saying that I haven't been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. I had what was thought of as pneumonia, had a re-check one month later, went through 3 rounds of antibiotics and had a cat scan of my chest where they found a tiny nodule (4.5 mm). Dr said it could be Cancer. I go to see the onocologist Tuesday. My Mom had Lung Cancer as did my Grandpa. I am not a smoker, but was one. I quit in March 2001. My question is; could a non calcified 4.5 mm pulmonary nodule be Cancer?

" Hoping you do NOT have lung cancer! Your family history is not good though. My dad had lung cancer & I was diagnosed 4-30-08 with it. I smoked for 50 years (I'm 67) but quit instantly when I knew I had cancer - good for you to have quit 7 years ago. Please let me know how this comes out (and I truly hope it's good news) and if you would like me to share my treatment experiences with you I will do so. "

" I was diagnosed at 41 years old with 4th stage lung cancer. I read your story and sounds alot like mine. They watched my 3mm nodule for 2 years, they were thinking it was sarcoidosis the entire time. The last ct scan they were going to do before putting the scans to once a year, that 3mm nodule had finally grown in size and had spread to my right ovary. I'm not trying to scare you or say that your nodule is cancer, I just want you to be very aggressive with your doctors. Ask your doctor if they can do a needle biopsy on the nodule. I think because of my age and a non smoker the doctors were not thinking cancer. Thats why you need to be very aggressive. Better safe then sorry. Wishing you good health. "
