I just wanted to say hello and briefly describe my situation. I wish we could've met under better circumstances, but misery loves company, right?
I thought a person's 20's were supposed to be one of the most exciting times in his or her life? I turned 25 back in September and I find myself alone with no friends and no relationships. I just don't understand it. My loneliness is starting to have some real negative effects on me. I find myself jealous, bitter, and resentful when I look around and see what everyone else has in their lives. I'm just now graduating from college. I'm excited about it, but I feel like I should have been at this stage of the game 3 years ago. I'm not sure what else to say. Posted on 11/04/09, 11:11 pm |

Welcome to the group. What you posted could be what runs through my mind, except mine usually includes cursing at various ailments. This group can be slow at times so just chill out and relax.
Best advice I have you is to try to limit your jealousy, keep your mind open, and try and find a decent job. You may want to look into martial arts, a gym, or some other activity that requires physical exertion and mental concentration. take it easy, and good luck.

focus on the positives you have, you are entering a new phase in life, that is exciting. concentrate on just that, and focus on your plans. in a new environment you will meet new pple, its a new start for you. you never know whats really going on in the other guys world. dont waste your time on it. the goal is to do the best you can, and be happy.
getting through college, you deserve a pat on the back. well done! the friends and relationships youd had there would be changing anyway with pple going their different ways to pursue careers. that will be soon apart of the past, think ahead, focus on that. when you think of someone else, try and change that thought, with a thought of being done with school, your hopes and dreams. at 25, you arent really behind in the race. you may find you will have some edge as well, as you have gained maturity that some younger pple might not yet have. you have a bright future, dont cloud that with negative thoughts about others. good luck

Groove -- welcome.
Wonderful reply from oookfine -- listen to him! As a 42-year-old, I have to smile at the notion of worrying about three years at age 25. (But I remember what it's like at that age, so I do understand.) But, trust me, you're not really behind. People are graduating college at all ages these days. Good luck to you!

I can relate bud, I'm 26 no real friends/relationships outside of my family. I graduated 3 years ago and I haven't found a career job or something steady anyway.
Yeah I thought my 20s would be way different then this, its definitely a time of uncertainty, I think when we reach our 30s we'll find ourselves. Just try to stay positive, we're still young, plenty of time to find someone, find a career, settle down and live a good honest life.

what did you get your degree in, teinte? hey even when i was in my 20s...way back when. it was tough and competitive, and who the knew still seemed more important than what ya knew. and that hasnt changed either. keep learning and trying to add to that resume. have you looked outside your local area, teinte? sometimes ya have to do that to get a good start.
when i see what pple in various trades charge, i sometimes wonder why i bothered with college at all. you both have time, just keeping working at your plan to get there.

If you're curious... I'm a graphic designer specializing in web design. I do print as well. I've recently started a small business. So far, so good... Tough economy as you all know, but you can make something out of it if you want to (or have the desire). I'm a dual major in graphic design and business.

oookfine, I got mine in computer programming. Though I'm really not passionate about it anymore, too many long hours and stress. I like building PCs and repairing them now, so I might get into that field, most times those jobs don't require a degree either, a PC technician.
Groove, good luck with your business, I do some graphic art as a hobby, never thought of it as a career. I might try to start my own PC business, repairing, building, upgrading, etc. So much competition though, but I'd be willing to try it, your right you definitely have to have the desire.

you guys sound like you both have some good ideas and positive things going on. there is and always has been alot of competition in every field. doing superior work and giving above and beyond customer service will pay off in the long run.
its really hard to find pple that have a high degree of pride in their work, and ones you can count on for a quality job, no matter if its trying to find a doctor or a plumber. and customer service, that seems almost a term of the past.
