so here i am i havent posted much lately been trying to stay busy with work and around the house, but the minute i stop the feelings start to creep in, like you hoo i see you, i have been here waiting now that you are sittting down for a minute i am gonna engulf you with a endless lonely feeling,

so my question, we all try to do things to shake the lonely empty feeling, but does anything ever really work for anyone, i mean i have been cleaning laundry moving stuff, and it all works for a while, but the minute i still still its like a giant anvil of loneliness drops on my head

" Keeping busy is good but I find that unless I seek out the company of like minded people and VENT it just builds up in me and I am oh so lonesome.Having someone to talk with who understands your feelings is very comforting and helps to alleviate those crushing feelings of solitude.So.....keep coming on here and chat your heart out it's good for you! " I have found that playing those senseless games helps somewhat for me. Sometimes it's just Tetris on my Game Boy, Other times it's Dragon Warrior III on the Game Boy Color! Then I tend to play Mahjongg Dimentions on Zwinky mostly if I'm stuck here at my parents house; So wasting time is what I do alot to keep from thinking about my futre. "

" Same here. I like the way you described this "giant anvil of loneliness", lol. I watch movies, exercises is even better...talk on the phone once in a while, clea the house, cook...work(if I had a job)...but once the TV is off and its just the silence & me...reality slaps me right in the face..& sometimes its simply more than I can bare. I go for the alcoholic drinks at times & try to forget that I am in the situation that I am in. Sleeping is great too...alcohol helps.. "

" Yeah, "giant anvil of loneliness" is a great phrase and very apt.

I would echo what others have said here: staying bust helps. I also exercise every day and watch what I eat. For me, I wouldn't say exercise helps so much on an immediate level, but I know how important it is to take care of myself physically if I want to get better mentally and emotionally.

Getting out of the house helps, even if it's just for a dull routine errand. At least I'm not just sitting around staring at my four walls. Watching TV provides a little relief, though I turned off my cable a few months ago to save money, but even watching old DVDs gives me some escape.

But one of the things that has helped me the most is having a project, something I'm working on with a definite goal for the future. I have a few different projects I'm working on. Between lack of free time and my depression, I don't work on them nearly often enough but whenever I do, I feel better. "

" Communicating with people seems to work after all fails. I reached out to a total stranger (via the web) who funny enough got me to open up a book again and actually read it. We rarely talk now, however everytime i look at the books we discussed together it always makes me smile. Btw, the books were graphic novels (transitioning into actual novels...later) and YES i had to convince my fam/friends that the books weren't a waist of money. I wouldn't have this funny memory if i didn't reach out and make a friend. "
