I am 29 yrs old and had a sonogram on my abdomen to see why i was in so much pain, apparently I have a stuck kidney stone, when they found that they also found a mass in my liver. I don't smoke or drink very heavily, I have been tested for Hep and it was negative. Could it be cancerous? I am freaking out, my doctor said its probably a hemangioma, but I go in to get a CT on my kidney and liver on Monday and I am afraid. Is there anyone out there can sooth my fears, is it really common for people my age to get cancer of the liver? I don't know what to think. I don't want to die, I'm so scared!

" I am sorry to hear you.Liver cancer is a cancer arising from the liver. It is also known as primary liver cancer or hepatoma. The liver is made up of different cell types . However, liver cells make up 80% of the liver tissue. Thus, the majority of primary liver cancers arises from liver cells and is called hepatocellular cancer or carcinoma.
Liver cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the world and the majority of patients with liver cancer will die within one year as a result. Patients with associated cirrhosis caused by chronic hepatitis B or C infections, alcohol, and hemochromatosis are at the greatest risk of developing liver cancer. Many patients with liver cancer do not develop symptoms until the advanced stages of the tumor which usually makes prognosis poor.
Good Luck..!!!

" my husband had liver cancer he was 26 when they found it, his symptoms were allot of pain on his right side not sleeping because of the pain, not eating, vomiting and much more he started having this pain on thanksgiving in o7 and he had hundreds of CT scans and x-rays and MRIs, and many more tests until they did two different biopsy on his liver and found he had liver cancer. after many wrong diagnoses like problems with his kidneys ,mono, gull blater , pancreas he like ur self not smoke or drink, was negative for all hep's, so they said it was just bad luck, I don’t mean to scare u but if there is a chance u might have it u need to get on this ASAP because if they find it right away u might have more options if u want to know more let me know and I can tell u what I know about it. Something u might want to do is find out about life insurance if u dont have any becasue if u have loved ones that u have to take care of, u cant get any insurance if u do have liver cancer. sorry if this is to much info. " I am a 40 year old woman.
The same thing happened to me. I actually went on a weight loss venture as I weighed 195 and was only 5' 4" and lost 25 pounds. During my trips to the Weight loss center, they performed blood work and found that my liver enzymes had spiked and then sent me for a sonogram. From the sonogram they recommended I get a CAT Scan. At this point, I thought I had a couple of 1 cm cysts on my right lobe and had been told nothing else. After the CAT Scan I was sent to a Gastroentrologist. He asked me if I knew why I was there and I told him about the 1 cm cysts. He said not exactly. He then told me I had a 7.9 x 6.7 cm mass on the left lobe of my liver. This could be benign or malignant. The day I found out about this began my whirlwind. The next day I was at a Speciailist preparing for surgery. The specialist said he wouldn't know if it were benign or malignant until my surgery. It ended up being a hepatic carcinoma and I had the left lobe and gallbladder removed. It can go either way. Don't worry about it, it does absolutely no good. Pray to God and hope is the only answer. They have told me I was lucky because it was early and I have a healthy liver otherwise. I am still scared sometimes because there is a definete chance of recurrence. I will be willing to talk to you and I pray that everything will be turn out good for you. I plan on living life to the fullest and will talk and answer any questions. Thanks and God Bless You. "

" My mom (74 yrs old) was just told this week that there were two spots on her liver and they are cancer. He colon, stomach, intestine area is all fine it's just on her liver. He told our family & my mom that w/chemo she would probably live around 12 months. I know it's so hard to know as every cancer is different like every person is different. Myself & my entire family are shocked and scared and I've been trying to read about this as much as possible.
Is liver cancer more deadly than other types? Is the Doctor right is saying 12 months or can see beat this w/the chemo and hopefully live longer? This just happened on Monday of this week and I was a basket case but with alot of prayer and thinking I've gathered myself together. It's almost like I think she'll be fine...this can't happen to my mom!! I know it's real and I'm just fooling myself. Please....if anyone has any information or advise for me I would really be grateful!! Thanks! Linda "

" Don't listen to Allanmandez he is just trying to act like he is knowledgeable on this subject. You had no symptoms and so hopefully it is something they can remove surgically,if it is a small hemangioma they will just leave it alone. I can understand your "freak out", but you have to trust the Dr first statement, they don't put themselves on the line to say things that will result in an uproar if they are wrong. If it was anything other then a hemangioma he would have said nothing until after your test. Let us know hope your relieved today! "
