Advice:
What is TACE Like?

Hi all,
My dad is being treated for his liver cancer (he has Hep C) in a few days by TACE. From what I've read on this group so far, it looks like a few of you have experience with the treatment, so I was wondering what that was like? How do you feel during and after the procedure? Is there anything I can do to help him and his wife deal? Is he going to be tired and worn down like with other chemo treatments? I don't live near my dad but I am going up to visit him this weekend and his procedure is scheduled for early next week- anything I can do while I'm there ahead of time?
Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
Megan

" My husband had that proceedure. He came thru it fine. Spent 1 night in the hospital and came home the next afternoon. I remember he was really groggy for most of the afternoon/eveningfollwing the proceedure but not in much pain at all. He was given meds in case of nausea and some pain meds, when he came home but he never needed either. But I think it varies from person to person. Good luck

" My dad also had this treatment, it didn't put him down at all, 1 night and back home. "
