" Which ever sounds better! lol

Actually, my fiance and I are having a funny fight about that. I want her last name and she wants my last name...we haven't really decided. I have lesbian aunts who kept their own last names.

Sometimes one person has her own business or something where changing her name may confuse customers and affect her self-branding so they would keep their name for that reason.

So I guess it's whatever works for you and your circumstances. "

" my wife and i had rows over this when we got married.she wanted me to change my last name to hers but i wouldn't as i have 3 children who have my last name.they was upset enough when i left their dad and found out i was gay.it doesn't matter if u don't change ur last name. "

" I know some couples combine the last names....it works well for them. The children don't get confused by the moms changes names and they still feel the connection of the same last name. The families don't feel as though they are loosing a family member. The professional/business world still sees the familiar last name.

It's a win win situation for all!! "

" Interesting..... apparently in my country.
We can't get married legally, and it is so difficult to have children as a same sex couple.

However, my gf and I have thought of a last name which sort of combine our surnames (we are chinese) in to a single word.

But we probably wouldn't get a chance to use it legally.. as a married couple. "

" Yeah, in the news a long time ago, I live in Canada, but in the States even straight couples were combining their last names making a new one. I thought that was cool, but also using a hyphen works. "

" Someday, I hope to be able to marry my partner, I would probably keep my name, perhaps hyphen it with hers...you are so lucky to be getting married!!
Cheers! "

" LOL, this is a funny one! One of my friends took her wife's last name and legally changed hers. Sorry, that's actually two friends who did that. Tons of others kept their own last names for various reasons. I would have taken my wife's because her family is actually more mine than my own, if you know what I mean. But...both of our first name's is "Laura". No, I'm not kidding! So, we decided it would just be too confusing. Another good option is to hyphenate "Anderson-Harding". A lot of people find that to be a great compromise. It just takes a little work to make the name changes if that's what the couple decides. "
