My son was diagnosed with lead poisoning in May 2006. The only source of lead that we found was in our plates. He didn't eat off of these plates! I was ingesting enough lead and passing it to him through breast milk, not to mention the 9 months of pregnancy he was exposed to it. His levels are now down to the safe level. The company (Pier 1) admits to lead in the plates, but say that they are within "safe" levels.

The current news stories frustrate me so much. I'm so scared he's going to get it again. I'm ready to go by a case of lead tests to test all of his toys. I'm sure my recent miscarriage isn't helping my response. I'm so mad that even lead is even used in anything any more.

The most frustrating thing is that there are no reports of injuries from the toys and they are all being recalled. I have a case of a child with lead poisoning and I can't get anyone to listen to me!

" I understand your frustration. We did not discover lead poisoning until my child was 8. She had many learning challenges and I felt in my gut there was more to it. Pediatrician siad not to test for lead because they could not do anything about it. Found new doctor who not only tested but used a releasing agent before the test to look at levels of lead in the tissues not just the blood. My daughter is doing much better. we are still going through chelation to remove lead from the tissues. My son also has tested positive for lead as well as myself. we never found the source but there is a very high incidence of lead toxicity where I was raised. So it is all over in the environment and no one knows.

I am very frustrated that MDs eithor do not test or test inproperly with a finger prick. They need to be educated on removing lead from the tissues not just getting it out of the blood. "

" My son has lead and now I'm afaraid he's damaged for life. His syptoms looked autisic like and he was even given an autism diagnoses before I found out he had lead. How do I get tested? And can elevated lead levels mimic autism? "
