Hi. Lactose intolerance runs in my family, my brother has it, my dad too probably but he eats little dairy products, and my cousins an aunt have it too. Now I am starting to believe I have it. I have never eaten that much dairy products before, but after I moved out I had a big thing for chocolate milk and iced-coffe. After a week or so I started to get diarreh and stomach-pains after eating or drinking anything with dairy in it, and I am wondering if it is possible that I have had a "diary-overdose" that has triggered the lactose intolerance gen, or something...

Dk why I am writing this here, but I was just hoping anyone have any thoughts about this or had similar expereinces.
(btw, when I drink soya-milk or lactose-free milk I don't have this reaction)

" I've got a similar story-it runs in my family, but only in the babies, and they all outgrew it. Now I'm 21 and I've always LOVED dairy-milk, coffee, half/half, sour cream, CHEESE cottage cheese etc etc and it never bothered me. Then I got really really poor and had a really bad diet (ie, basically no food) for several months and now more than a mouthful of dairy and I've got bloating, pain, gas and the runs for a week! Lactaid pills helped, for about a week, then they stopped working.

And again, soymilk/lactose free milk incurs no reaction in me either... "
