My saga began in the middle of August, but I was diagnosed at the beginning of September with kidney stones after having a kidney infection and a bladder infection within two weeks of each other. My CT scan revealed 6 stones located in both of my kidneys, all small enough to pass on their own (2-4mm according to the techs). I was referred to a urologist, whom I saw about 2 weeks ago, and he gave me 3 weeks worth of FloMax and some painkillers.
This is my first time ever having kidney stones (I am a 25 y/o female, just turned 25 during this ordeal actually), and so I'm just not sure how long I'm supposed to be feeling like this. I've missed a lot of work already (I had to come home early today because the pain has been really intense the last two days), and I haven't even seen or felt any stones pass. A friend of mine told me that there's a chance I wouldn't know when they were all passed, but I'm really just concerned with the timeline. At what point should I start to worry and get a hold of my urologist? My regular doctor seemed fed up of hearing from me, so I'm reluctant to call and bother this one... If anyone knows the answer, or could give me a guess based on personal experience, I would appreciate it so much. Thank you! Posted on 10/01/09, 11:10 am |

I realized I should specify:
I have 6 stones total, they are split up between both of my kidneys, with two larger ones on the right side.
