ok, so I have tried to Google this but can't seem to find an answer, so I thought I'd give my fellow stoners...hehe...a try.
Can stones dissolve on thier own in your body? I have a stone about 1 a week now and they have been seen on x-rays and ct scans, but no matter how much I strain my urine or even urinate in a cup then strain, I have never caught one. Its really frusturating, especially now since I am getting them so frequently...anyone else had this problem?

" I have a bazillion stones. I have researched quite a bit and if you have a certain type of stone, they could dissolve on their own. But most are calcium oxalate, and they don't. It could be you are passing something quite tiny. It doesn't have to be very big to hurt! Sometimes they hang around in your bladder a while too.
You probably have been told this, but if you do catch a stone, make sure to get it analyzed so you know what you have.
Doc put me on low oxalate diet, and also low acid.
I have had some stones hang out for weeks before they pass. Some I see, and some not.
My urologist has me drinking a LOT of water every day, for life. I get the good filtered water from the store, where you bring your own container. Then it is only about 35cents a gallon. I drink up to a gallon a day, but it is what I have been recommended to do. Most urologist would recommend at least half this amount every day.
The water helps flush out a stone, if it is passable, and I think makes a lot less painful. Most important it dilutes your urine, so it doesn't have a chance to form more stones, or make the ones you have bigger. "
