Did my stone pass? Get 'stuck'? Cause UTI?

After two days writhing in pain with my second kidney stone in ten years, I've been pain free for three days. Unfortunately, no sign of stone in strainer (managed to use strainer most of the time since stone attack). Could stone still be high up in ureter, but not causing me pain, just sitting there waiting to 'turn' on me at any time? Or, could stone have passed thru ureter but be stuck in my prostate or urethra area?

I developed a fever of 101 degrees, but that went away 36 hours ago. Now I have slight feeling of UTI infection, though, but no fever.

thanks

" UPDATE: according to X-ray, 4mm stone is gone, which is good news. I sure would like to have it to analyzed but I haven't seen it. Maybe I missed it. Wonder if it could still be in the 'last legs' of its journey or something. My first stone took about six days after the pain was over to show up in strainer. Weird. "

" that's interesting. I'm passing one right now and quite painful. I too noticed that pain has lessened, but no stone in strainer.. Hmmm, very interesting. "

" When I had mine they said after the initail shock of pain goes away you can be pain free until you actually have to pass it. It is like a ticking time bomb....you never know when the pain will come back. My kidney stone was between 4 to 6 mm....they were unsure and did the procedure to remove it....always fun....yeah right. Good luck and I hope you passed it without the pain. "

" Yeah usually there is pain until the stone hits the UVJ or UV Junction which is the area where the ureter hits the bladder. Then the stone is in the bladder and there isnt much pain UNTIL it passes out of the urethra...read my post on Flomax because that would have helped Justin9 pass that stone quicker...

" STONE PASSED! it passed about 11 days after the 48 hours of agony I endured (which surely was its journey through the ureter to the bladder). Vicodin barely helped. Last stone I passed took about a week hours to materialize, too. Weird. These stones are clearly hanging out somewhere for there last leg of the journey. (No pain when traveling through urethra either time.) "

" I am trying to find someone similiar to my situatuion, but not having much luck. so here goes. I'm 36 with my first stone ever. I went to the ER on Sat Dec 1st in immense pain...pain passed before being given morphine..CT Scan showed a 2-3mm stone in the left ureter. I have had on and off discomfort, blood in the urine and 2 bouts of antibiotic. I had a CTScan-IVP on Dec 19th showing the stone has moved to right above the bladder entrance. I have tried so many things the past several days. I just can't seem to pass this darn thing. WHY? I was set for surgery tomorrow (1-8-08) but asked to please postpone for a week with hopes of passing the stone. I feel depressed and like I am going to go insane! "

" I was lucky enough to experience my first kidney stone on 10-30-9. I was in severe pain, thought I was dying, and went to the ER. The did an ultrasound, x-ray, and a CT scan. They found a 4-5mm stone at the top of my ureter. I was given hydrocodone and antibiotics and sent home. I went to see a urologist about a week later because the pain was getting worse. He took a look at the scan and said he would need to remove it. This was yesterday. This morning I woke up and the pain had gone away from the bottom of my ribs to my urethra. I am guessing that it is stuck there. I can pee, however, it is only drops and every 10 minutes. It hurts pretty bad. I am scheduled for surgery on Tuesday. Do you think it will pass between now and then? Is there anything I can do to help it along? "

" My home remedy helps for small stones. 3oz. orange juice 1/2 tablspn castor oil. The doctor mentioned Flomax in earlier post. Since 1988 I get kidney stones once or twice a year usually in summer (not enough fluids). And then again around December. For 3 days now I've had blood in my urine but no kidney stone pain yet. But because of my other disease and chronic pain I already take morphine and oxycodine daily. So hopefully it wont hurt much. Good luck passing your stone. My daughter and boyfriend just had stones they passed them drinking orange juice. "
