Hi I am a 52yo male from NY. I have suffered from stone disease for the past 30 yrs. It has now become apparent that I will no longer be able to work outside of the home. Between constant pain and related pain meds I can no longer drive or work in any type of office setting with any consistency.
I was wondering if anyone has filed for permanent disability because of this disease, and what the outcome was. Also any help you can give me navigating these waters would be a big help. I have 2 in college, and one going next year so retirement is out of the question. I am running out of time and money, and even with my wife working we cannot make ends meet. Thanks for any help you can supply.... Rocky DeLuca rockydeluca@optonline.net Posted on 12/31/08, 03:12 pm |

I am not sure of the answer to this, but I think it depends on what causes the kidney stones to begin with and what has been done to try and stop them from forming. Also if you have had any procedures to remove stones?.... I was having my stones removed when I had not been having any problems... it is called debulking... so my kidney function would be improved. This is contraversial and many urologists will not do this. In fact from what I can figure out urologists will not even agree to disagree on this topic!
Also how bad your kidney function is, is probably important. Have you considered seeing a doctor for pain management? It seems like that would help your case for disability. Also have you ever seen a nephrologist? Trish
