Pain after stone is passed? New to K.stones. Help

I have a unique situation, i was diagnosed via Ultrasound with a 7mm kidney stone .. I had back and lower abdominal pain that got worse and worse over several days, until I could not stand up (the pain was so severe)I did not have a problem urinating and had no blood in my urine...Just severe pain. Anyway after the ultrasound the ER doctor told me that I would need surgery to remove the stone.. it was big but was not blocking my urine flow .. within 36 hours I went to a urologist and he ordered a cat scan ( i will admit I felt a little beter at this time) anyway Cat scan shows no stone .. he says maybe you passed it or maybe it is somehting else. I went to my OB/Gyn and Orthapedic Doctor ..and all is fine. However, a week later I still have a dull ache in my lower abdomen and back.. sometimes sharp pain.. but nothing like the pain I experienced before the CAt scan. what I need to know is.. it is possible to pass a stone and not be aware of it? Also.. could I experience residual pain a week later? The pain has gotten better every day, but I still have a dull ache ..I thought most people that pass stones no longer have the pain. It is so frustrating to have different doctors telling you different things... I feel exhasuted from all of this ..

" hello,

as a seasoned campaigner in the kidney stone race it sounds as though your stone has passed down into your bladder. the pain you would have been feeling is the pain assoc with the stone moving through your ureter (i liken this pain to childbirth) a stone the size of 7mm you will feel it being passed, it is a weird feeling. " There is pain after you pass the stone depending on the size of the stone, because when the stone makes its way out it scratches gouge tissue. From personal experience sometimes it can be very painful "

" The residual pain could definitely be from the kidney stone even if it is out of your ureter. I had residual pain for a few days after i passed mine. Also, if you didn't see the stone, it may still be in your bladder. I stopped having pain, but didn't actually pee it out of my bladder until a week later. Of course, if the pain continues for too long or gets worse, you should still go back to your doctor. "
