" New to site:
Let me say, hello. I was diagnosed with keratoconus 10 years ago. Because I am starting to have difficulty, I found this website.

I am not sure who you are seeing, but I HIGHLY recommend you establish yourself with a corneal specialist. A regular optician is not going to be able to treat you as well as a someone who specializes in the corneal field.

In 2001, I had a treatment called "intacts" in my left eye. It has benefited me a great deal; however after 8 years, I am finding that my corneas are worsening.

If you are able to have intact surgery, I highly recommend it as it will "buy" you some time.

I will find out next week whether not I will need corneal transplants.

Take a deep breath.....you will be fine. Write me if you need to talk.

" Absolutely, you should be followed by an experienced corneal specialist. This disease should be monitored closely.
There are internet sites that will give you details on this disease.
I find awareness helps me.
I have had 4 transplants and can say I'd prefer that procedure to the dentist's office any day. When we evaluate the value we place on our sight, I think its easier to go the steps toward having that functional lifestyle. "
