Hi,
I would like to find out if anyone had Intacs procedure and what is the outcome. Thanks Posted on 07/16/08, 04:13 pm |

So I don't want to sound pessimistic because I am sure they work- my eye might have just been too far gone- but I had INTACS put in my left eye Dec 2007 and less than a year later I was told I needed a transplant... I had the transplant done in May 2008. Again, my cornea may have been too far gone, but I saw no improvement with them. If I could do it again, I would have just done the transplant (though I still have not seen a huge difference it would have been one less surgery). Good luck!!!

I had intacts done on both my eyes about two years ago. When we finshed everything for the left eye the Dr turned around and told me that I need to do the transplant. I did seek another opinon and still today I have the intacs and no transplant. I also wear soft contacts in both eyes now. Before the intacts I wore gas perm lenses.
It really does depend on how bad and how thin your cornea are. Good luck with what ever you decide. Fran

i had intacs put in in 12/2004 in my right eye. The results were actually the same vision-wise but the plus is that the contact lens is now staying put. Unfortunately as i type this I am going in for Cornea transplant tomorrow morning on my left eye

I had the procedure done in 2001- left eye with Dr. Jonathan Talamo in Boston, MA. Intac will not prevent the disease from progressing as my eye has gotten worse over the years, but it did buy me time. Currently wearing scleral lenses in both eyes and have gone from 20/800 to almost 20/20! It's only been a couple of months and I am happy beyond all expectations. Just wish I didn't have to take them out at the end of the day......would love to see like this all the time, but I guess I'll take whatever I can get.
