So has anyone here successfully done weight watchers? I've gained some weight in the past few months because I've been sick and not been able to do anything physical. My idea of helping, since I'm still unable to truly exercise, is to try weight watchers.

When I went to my first meeting (it wasn't a true meeting, we had missed it. Sort of a weigh in and get instructions deal), there were so many rules, many of them I follow, but some I can't. Like the 6 servings of fruits and vegetables- I can't always eat more than rice so I don't get how that would work. And then there is the two glasses of milk, and I'm lactose intolerant.

I know I probably sound like one of those women who is so obsessed with weight, but I have gained over fifty pounds in the last year and I'm getting desperate. I'm medicated, so I've been able to eat more than I was a couple of months ago, but I am just curious if anyone has done this diet with success. My goal is just to get rid of the weight I've gained. It's starting to get sad.

" I found trying an exclusion diet that I saw in the book 'No More IBS' helped me lose weight (I dropped from a UK size 20 to size12 over a couple of years). Through the diet I found out I was intolerant to dairy, potatoes and gluten/starch from grains. It is quite surprising what other things I found I was intolerant to, like quinoa, beetroot, celery.

I had tried weight watchers before I was diagnosed but lost no weight in 5 weeks so I knew something was not right.

Now I stick to not eating what I am intolerant to and feel so much better, I am not tired anymore for no reason, my weight remains stable, and I am happier. I know when I have eaten something I can't eat because along with the usual IBS symptoms I bloat out with water and my clothes get tight everywhere. I know it is water because the next day I pass water more frequently as my bloating reduces.

I do hope you find out what it is that is stopping you from losing weight. I guess not being able to do physical exercise is not helping, but you sound like you are quite determined.

I wish you well MaeLiz. "
